Macon&Eggs: We Remember Ali's Visit To Middle Georgia

Muhammad Ali, three-time world heavyweight boxing champion and one of the most famous sports personalities of this century visited Fort Valley State College’s homecoming festivities in 1989.  Charles Richardson, editorial page editor for the Telegraph was there and shares his memories. This is the hot topic on Macon&Eggs this week. 

Hot topic #2: The Bibb County school board this week tentatively approved a $197 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year that would give a 3 percent raise to employees but also would require higher property taxes.  The roughly $2 million increase came into the picture despite Gov. Nathan Deal announcing the raise for teachers with his state budget earlier this year through reductions to austerity cuts.

Hot topic #3: The Bibb County school board and the state Department of Education have filed a motion in bankruptcy court to start the termination process for Macon Charter Academy.  The motion was last week as a joint effort of both entities.
