GPB News Wins 8 Awards In Georgia APME Contest

Winners of the Georgia Associated Press Media Editors contest were announced Saturday in Atlanta.

GPB News won first place awards for Best Staff Coverage: "Hurricane Michael and Georgia's Path to Recovery"; Best Website and Best Newscast: Rickey Bevington and Sophia Saliby.

GPB News won second place awards in Best Staff Coverage: "Georgia Midterms 2018"; Best Use of Sound: Grant Blankenship, "Music as Medicine in the ICU"; Best Investigative Reporting: Grant Blankenship, "Can Paperwork Keep Potential Voters from Polls?"; Best Multiplatform Coverage of a Single Story: Grant Blankenship, "Long Road for Pecan Growers Hit by Hurricane Michael" and Best Reporter and/or Anchor: Rickey Bevington.

Twenty-nine daily newspapers and broadcasters submitted 654 entries in the contest.
