Georgia Politics Recap: New Laws, Vetoes, Disaster Relief Funds

May 13, 2019

The busy season for Georgia state lawmakers is now over.  Yes, the legislative session wrapped up April 2, but Sunday marked the final close to the 2019 lawmaking season.  Gov. Brian Kemp had 40 days after Sine Die to publicly sign or veto bills.  Now, everything that hasn’t seen his pen automatically becomes law.

GPB politics reporter Stephen Fowler returned to On Second Thought to break down how Georgia’s state laws are changing.

Stephen also discussed a disaster relief package that now heads to the US Senate.  The House passed it Friday.  It would give $19 billion to people in Georgia, across the Southeast and in Puerto Rico.
