If you have an emergency and need to call 9-1-1, how soon do you want to help to arrive? ASAP is likely your answer.
In the city of Dunwoody, ambulance response times were a hotly contested subject last spring after a number of calls were not handled promptly.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on a Dunwoody couple that called 9-1-1 when their child was having a severe seizure. More than 20 minutes later, an ambulance finally pulled into the driveway.
But by then, the couple had taken their child to the hospital.
DeKalb County provides emergency medical services for the city of Dunwoody. After repeated incidents, the city council declared an EMS emergency due to slow ambulance response times last year.
Ultimately, the city and county began working together to address the problem.
GPB's Leah Fleming sat down with Dunwoody Mayor Denis Shortal to get an update on the situation and see if ambulance response times are improving.
