The weekend is here yet again, and Bill Dawers of hissing lawns and the Savannah Morning News has some tips for making the most of it.

Bill's picks:

-Pick up an unusual new skill at Graveface's Rat Workshop/Taxidermy Class. Necessary supplies will be provided, including the rat, but be sure to sign up in advance in case the class fills up. Thursday, 7-10 p.m.; $75.

-Local favorite jam group Perpetual Groove will play Barrelhouse South. Thursday, 7 p.m.-midnight; $25.

-This month's Free Family Day at the Jepson Center marks Juneteenth, the traditional celebration of emancipation. It includes storytelling, hands-on art making for kids and families, a ring shout performer and more. Saturday, 1-4 p.m.; free.

-Looking ahead to next week, metal legends Anthrax will play the Stage on Bay. Fellow thrash metal band Testament will open. Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.; $35-127.

-For a very different night of music, check out indie rocker Soccer Mommy at El Rocko Lounge. Charleston's Grace Joyner will open. Wednesday, 9 p.m.-midnight; $10.
