Coastal Ga. Weekend: Savannah And Coastal Events Feb. 1-4

Feb 1, 2018

Start your February right with some tips from Tanya Milton, Vice President of the Savannah Tribune, and Joshua Peacock, freelance writer and Do Savannah columnist.

Joshua's picks:

-Start the weekend a little early with a punk show at the Jinx. Athens band Shehehe will join Savannah's own Jeff Two-Names and the Born Agains and Ramages. Thursday, 10 p.m.; $8.

-You've still got a few more days to sample some of Savannah's finest dining during Savannah Restaurant Week. Pay a fixed price for a three-course meal at Alligator Soul, 39 Rue de Jean and more. Through Sunday; $30 per person.

-February is just starting, which means it's time for another First Fridays in Starland. This month's outing will feature a street fair by Sulfur Studios, including art vendors, live music and painting, food trucks and more. Friday, 6-9 p.m.; free.

-Enjoy some indie jams at El-Rocko Lounge when Rare Creatures, Myfever and Youngster come to town. Saturday, 11 p.m.- 2 a.m.; free.

Tanya's picks:

-It's American Hearth Month, and WomenHeart Savannah is hosting a whole array of events with St. Joseph's/Candler, including health fairs and events for seniors. Full schedule here.

-Celebrate the start of the Savannah Black Heritage Festival with a dance performance by the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company at the Johnny Mercer Theater. Friday, 7:30 p.m.; free. Festival runs through Feb. 18; full schedule here.

-Enjoy an evening of great food and art at Pin Point Heritage Museum's Art & Oysters. The museum's annual fundraiser features the work of artist Jerome Meadows and tasty soul food by Creative Catering. Saturday, 6-9 p.m.; $100.
