Coastal Ga. Weekend: Mar. 1-4

Mar 1, 2018

It's another busy weekend in Savannah, including several weekend-long festival. Claire Sandow of the Tourism Leadership Council and Heather Henley of Do Savannah have your guide.

Heather's picks:

-Enjoy music infused with some mystery when Here Come The Mummies play the Stage on Bay. The top-notch funk musicians keep their identity secret - they're reportedly session musicians under contract - by performing in full-on spooky mummy garb. Thursday, 8 p.m.; $22-35.

-Take in a mix of art, writing and music as Hestia Artists' Residency comes to town. The series of events feature author Meg Ellison, muralist Celeste Byers and poet and musician Beth Head, culminating in the Ruckus and Revelry on Saturday. Full event line-up here.

-Dive into the past at this year's Savannah Antiques and Architecture Weekend. Highlights include lectures, tours, workshops and appraisals by the experts from Antiques Roadshow. Friday and Saturday, full schedule and prices here.

Claire's picks:

-Geek out at Gnome Con, happening all weekend at Cottonwood Suites in Pooler. Festivities include a costume contest and lots of gaming, including an impressive array of board games - and a chance to buy new games you discover. Friday through Sunday; prices vary by day, $45 for weekend pass.

-Ghost Coast Distillery will celebrate its first anniversary in Savannah with - what else? - a party. City Hotel will provide music, Chazito's will serve up Latin food favorites and Ghost Coast will release a limited batch of their new whiskey, only available through St. Patrick's Day. Friday, 6-9 p.m.; free admission.

-Earn your Saturday drinks the athletic way at the Miles to Margaritas 5K, starting and ending at Forsyth Park. Once you're done running or walking, enjoy a free margarita at the post-race fiesta. Register at Fleet Feet on Friday or at the race start. Saturday, 9 a.m.

-Sample some soup for a cause at Soup It Up for Loop It Up, back at Ghost Coast. Local chefs will compete for the coveted Golden Soup Bowl, all to raise funds for Loop It Up's programs for local youth and families. Saturday, 7-10:30 p.m.; $60, $100 for couples.
